My Ivy.. Latest Relapse...She's Gone

sad.png
May sweet Ivy pass quietly in her sleep. She is in the warm house with mama and daddy...that is a great place to be. I am so so sorry Cyn. Dang it, why do we have to get so attached? We read so much about your girls and boys, that we grow to love them too. I am sorry I will not get to meet Ivy and I pray she does not suffer or linger.

Thank you, Ladyhawk, that is what I'm praying for, too. Ivy is such a calm and gentle girl, she hasn't made one sound since I brought her in. She did eat some hardboiled egg and oatmeal first thing this morning, but I haven't seen her drink all day. When she is gone, I know that Olivia or Ginger is next and I don't relish doing this two more times soon after.

Well, let's take it one girl at a time...Livvie and Ginger are still eating and acting normal so let's concentrate on them staying good and Ivy passing quickly and peacefully. I hate it that these girls are dying from this internal laying stuff...I am so scared I will start losing my "biggie girls", they are going to be 2 in a week.

I just refuse to buy from the hatchery lines anymore...I will take my chances and feel better about good birds from good stock... i.e. yours

I have decided to come and get all of yours and let you start over cause you are so good at being a chicken mama.

Barbara has started refusing water at times and drinking very little when she does drink. Is that a sign of the end coming? I know when my dog's kidneys started failing he would not drink at all.

Robin'sBrood - it is not a good sign for sure and not good for them...dehydration can come quickly when they do not drink.

Usually they stop eating and drinking before they pass.

I will say a prayer for your girl.
