Dearest chicken, lovely bird,
Love is not too strong a word
For the way I feel for you,
And hope you feel it for me too.
I love you more than I can say,
And even more each passing day. By : Anonymous

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
You're a great chicken,

I don't know if you know this or not Cyn, but some of these eggs in the bator right now, might, just might be full BR's. The lady that I got them from has one BR roo, and several BR hens. There's also a RIR roo in that flock, but he's the #2 roo. I'm really hoping that the BR roo covered ALL of the BR hens and that I have more than just a few of those eggs in there!

If I'm so fortunate in having at least one BR pullet out of the bunch, she too will bear the name Ivy, in honor of a little bird that I love so much and never got to meet.

May her spunk and spirit live on in every BR ever hatched!

And if I'm really lucky, and get TWO BR pullets, then the second one will be named Cynthia, in honor of the great lady whom I have come to respect and admire as the best Chicken Mommy EVER!!

I opened this thread in positive dread this morning- I think we will all cry with you. But passing gently and peacefully in one's sleep, warm in the house with the people you love and who love you- if you have to go, what better way? Even though it is SO hard on the ones keeping vigil. More hugs and prayers for you and Tom, Cynthia- keep your chin up!

I am going to get some sleep and I hope when I awaken I read good news....like she has bounced back from the brink again and wants outside or she has passed peacefully. Much love to you, Tom and Ivy.

You folks rock! Thanks for all the sympathy and well-wishes for us. Ivy is still here. The day is sunny and will be warmer and depending on how she is, may let her out this afternoon with her sisters. I talked to her and for the first time, she chattered back to me in the brooder. I do not see that she is drinking at all, though, which is obviously not a good sign.
