My rooster has the same problem. Depending on which way the hen is traveling when he decides to hop on, sometimes lands them both face down in the dirt. I feel so bad for them.
I have two cockerels that survived out of a batch of five. It was hysterical to watch the Dutch Bantam cockerel, Zapraska, try to mate with the Sapphire Gem pullet, Poppy, who was from the same batch of chicks.
He'd latch onto her hackles, hop onto her back, and try to mate... Poppy would simply duck her head and lift her tail, and Zapraska would flip over her head and onto the ground.
Or he would fail to mount her properly and he would roll off to the side.
Watching an inexperienced bantam cockerel try to mate with a standard-sized hen is quite amusing.

I remember Limpy - F&W Runner Drake - trying to mate with a White Layer. He latched on to her neck, the Duck stretched her neck our horizontally and pulled the way too short drake away from her business end. Much later he later figured out that he had to latch on to her back instead the neck…

Well, Ralphie Dux may be safe from the pot. The mean cockerels, however, are not. I have never eaten duck nor do I know how to prepare it. But I really expect him to be a good one. What does a mean duck do anyway?
Bites and chases me. Focused on human toe amputation. Treats entry to coop by flying in face. Blood blister application to lower legs and hands when reaching for water bowl of food container. Usually striking in appearance. Example

And they are sooo adorable! I love the ducklings and chicks mingling. So cute.
I have always intermingled my chicks and ducks it seems to make the ducks less scared of me cause they see the chickens getting love and they want some too I can sit in my yard and my chickens will immediately come over and climb up into my lap on my back its crazy my husband says it looks like I'm being attacked my one chick likes to rub her beak and face against my face if I don't let her she yells at me literally Ducklin will lay on my back if I lay out in the yard or push his way under my arm and lay his chin on my face I love it

I doubt that is a true “Ralphie Dux”.

That said, can you blame him? Blue sneakers with PJs covered in evil wizard stars is such a fashion faux pas he has no choice but to take action.

This leaves me speechless.... you actually want them to touch you?

Oh ya I can lay on a blanket in my yard my whole flock except the quail will come over and lay with me and nap the next time I will have my husband take a pic its a sign of trust

No, it’s not.......

Remember dux are dangerous....... never touch one.

Not even a Ralphie Dux, which is a rare dux that helps mankind....

Allowing a dux to touch you is simply
