My neighbor kidnapped and abused my chickens-seriously

@BigDaddy'sGirl

it seems to me that you are taking this far too personally. You've expressed your opinion repeatedly and now it seems that you're getting angry about others expressing their opinion, which is different than yours...

. I just reread through these posts and I don't see where your hostility is coming from. The OP is looking for opinions, suggestions, and ideas and getting them. It doesn't mean that EVERY suggestion is being enacted...it's ideas, weighing out the pros and cons, talking it out with others and it's the OP's decision ultimately in the end.

So when is the next court date? Does he have a lawyer? I know how the felony system works in Texas, but I have no idea in your state. If he does get a lawyer, chances are he will negotiate a lesser punishment. Talk to your DA if you don't want that to happen. I may have just missed it in these almost 200 posts, but what does your neighbor do for a living? I'm just curious.

If the neighbor's wife that works for a vet (sheesh) came out screaming at me, I'd be really tempted to want her to have some consequences for her bad behavior, too. I think you've been really smart; so keep it up. It is perfectly OK to explore all the possibilities here. If you don't like some of the comments, just ignore them and take the good advice.

I really do feel for you and your chickens. There is little worse than being miserable in your home because of outside things that you can't control. When there is a final judgment in this case, I would take a certified copy of it to your appraisal district and ask that your property taxes be lowered because of your dangerous neighbor! They can do that, you know...

Hugs...

Don't know the court date yet, they called today to tell me he's being served next week. As far a lawyer-I have no clue what he's doing. A felony here in New Jersey is 18 months jail time and maybe a fine. My neighbor is in construction, home remodeling-I think. I will look into the property tax thing. Very interesting.
Thanks for the help. I'll keep everyone clued in.

You know, a lot of felons end up self employed and work in the home improvement/remodeling business or landscaping. I wonder if he has a previous criminal record. You could check your local clerk's offices to see if there is anything filed there. If you know where he lived before, you could check the clerk's offices there also. If he ends up with probation, his previous records will be considered. Some of the information may not be available to you, but if I were you, I'd like to know...

Well I extended the olive branch. If you choose to ignore it, I can't say more than I apologize if I offended you. Good luck with your case and I hope you have no more run ins with the neighbor.

@FemmeJolie, I would think twice about going after the animal tech wife. She can be faulted for not contacting you, but doing so could leave her sitting next door, unemployed and angry at you.

You might want to invest in a game camera or security camera. If you have a lawyer, you could inquire about a restraining order on them, just for good measure.

Good luck with your case.
