My neighbor kidnapped and abused my chickens-seriously

Whoa. That's quite a statement. Excuse me, but I have a couple of in laws who are self employed in construction/ remodeling. Neither are felons. They are self employed because they don't take orders well. My husband is also self employed for the same reason, though in a different field. Casting aspersions on whole groups of people like that is inappropriate. I'm surprised. You usually seem a very reasonable person.

You know, a lot of felons end up self employed and work in the home improvement/remodeling business or landscaping. I wonder if he has a previous criminal record. You could check your local clerk's offices to see if there is anything filed there. If you know where he lived before, you could check the clerk's offices there also. If he ends up with probation, his previous records will be considered. Some of the information may not be available to you, but if I were you, I'd like to know...

Whoaaaaa is right! In no way did I mean to imply that EVERYONE in home improvement or landscaping is a felon. My point was for the OP to check out the criminal history of her neighbor in a legal way. That is what I meant and that is all that I meant. My husband buys properties and remodels, too. My appologies if you misunderstood.

I work in an office where parolees pay their court costs. That is how I know where they work. A vast majority of them (where I am) work in the construction/landscaping field. This thread is about catching a neighbor stealing and abusing animals, please don't spin it to anything else...

Aye. We are hearing one side only, please withhold judgement.

I did not mean for this to strike a nerve with anybody. In the area that I live, this is absolutely true. It is undoubtedly different in different parts of the country. I did not intend to insult anyone. I am a district clerk and collect court costs from parolees. I know them and where they work. Many of them are not 'bad' people, just people that have made bad choices in the past. Some go on to have very successful lives. Have you ever thought about where a felon would work? Any professional licenses (and many times, driver's licenses) get revoked; think about it.

I don't want to hijack this thread. Again, I meant no disrespect to anyone, felons included, in this area of work and I appologize if my comment upset anyone.

Ummm...thanks for the advice...I guess my apology to the OP wasn't enough...

BigDaddy'sGirl: Perhaps you could watch quietly without commenting??? Or start a different thread??? Just a suggestion from a lurker.

Chicken.Lytle :

@FemmeJolie, I would think twice about going after the animal tech wife. She can be faulted for not contacting you, but doing so could leave her sitting next door, unemployed and angry at you.

You might want to invest in a game camera or security camera. If you have a lawyer, you could inquire about a restraining order on them, just for good measure.

Good luck with your case.

Thank you. Oh, I know. I have thought of that. Cameras are up.
