You just need to keep in mind the lifespan compared to chickens, Japanese Quail live 2-3 years on average, though Scrappy is 4 years old and still going strong.

So, 4 year old Scrappy now has two 5 week old hens. Despite his age, he doesn’t look much older than them and is a right flirt.

One of the girls is all bushy and hates being touched by me, while the other is chilling in my jumper. Both have small butts and don’t produce any foam under pressure, so they are hens.
