My pic of eggs & mini rant...

Not a lot of people know or pay attention to this, but if you look at the date on the side of a carton of eggs there is a number next to it between 1-365. This number corresponds to the day the eggs were packaged. So if the number is 274, that means the eggs were packaged on the 274th day of the year. Some calendars track that number on them. If you have a calendar that does you can look to see exactly how long the eggs have been sitting on the shelf. I once found a case.. yes, a whole case of eggs at the store that were 5 1/2 weeks old.

I said but YOU EAT EGGS...he said I know; but just the thought of where they come from...

I said WHERE DO YOU THINK THE STORE GETS THEIR EGGS FROM???

He said I know; but its like "second hand"..not straight from the source...

Put an add on Craigslist for farm fresh eggs and see what happens!

My friends daughter (40 years old) won't eat anything that doesn't come from the grocery store! Including tomatoes and peppers from her own garden!

Around here most people want brown eggs, and they are happy to get blue & green eggs.

We sell them $3.00 a dozen plenty of takers !!!

This is one of THE FUNNIEST things I've ever heard.
Sometimes I wonder how people like that manage to go through life.

I'm with the other poster... put an ad on Craigslist... there are plenty of people that like and want farm fresh eggs. Do you have a local food pantry? I take a dozen or more a week to one of ours - they LOVE the donation... it's a small thing on my part but someone can use them for sure!

good luck...

If you want to legally sell your eggs check with your state's ag department. Each state is different, but those that allow selling of eggs by the 'back yard flock owner' still requires some sort of regulations, such as washing the eggs and REFRIGERATION. I know the state of PA allows selling, but I have to wash the eggs, label the carton, keep them refrigerated, and can not sell any eggs past 5 days old.
