My take on the garden coop (Lots o pics)

Thanks, I was planning on putting a roost in there today, hopefully that will discourage them.

From what I've read, western red cedar is not a problem. It's a different species from what is often marketed as cedar, when in fact is a juniper. Mine is all western red cedar. Any cedar experts care to clarify?

Katy, so far, the white silkie goes up on her own, I had to put the buff one into the house last night. I'm hoping she'll catch on

Western red cedar is not toxic like the other cedars -- you're right, Ernie, the others are juniper. Not only that, but western red cedar is about the best you can use in Seattle because it stands up so well to damp conditions. Being a Seattle native, I oughta know!

Welcome to BYC, Ernie. You're already an asset to the rest of us!

Got our first egg of the new coop!

Thanks for the clarification possumqueen and the warm welcome

Ernie!

It's a beautiful coop, I'm sure your girls love it.

There's a lot of us in the Seattle area. Be sure to check out the Washingtonians thread in the "Where am I? Where are you!" section.

The coop IS gorgeous but I really really enjoyed the picture of your blue-eyed dog! Great work!
