Hey y'all,

Recently just joined BackyardChickens, but I've been reading posts and forums on here for a few months now. It's been extremely helpful since I'm new to having chickens.
Anyways, on to the real question. In our flock we have one Polish chicken, her name is Jenny. Well at least we think it's a she. I wanted to get some opinions from y'all to see if someone could give some insight. She recently has developed small what looks like gobbles. Unfortunately, it's hard to tell from the feathers on her head due to a run-in with our hunting dog who broke out of his kennel. She hasn't grown feathers back in yet (not sure if she ever will). Poor thing is a survivor, and has the best personality. Can't have roosters in city limits though, would hate to part with this one. Let me know what y'all think. Thanks!

7 weeks. We have two roosters out of our other straight runs that are the same age and they're already trying to crow :barnie:rolleyes: Polish one is still pretty quiet.

Look at the hackle (on the back of kneck) and saddle (on the back by the tail) feathers . Are they pointed? Pointed means its a rooster. Are they rounded? Rounded means its a hen. The muted red i see in the comb and wattles makes me think your polish is a hen. I have a buff laced polish bantum rooster myself and when he was 7 weeks old his comb and wattles were bright red. Hope this helps.
