Ok, found 4 feet up in Johnson grass, barely attached in a small branch of the grass, as we were weed eating the garden by an alfalfa field, in desert southwest, in new mexico, saw them fall to the ground as the grass got weed eated, (ate?)
the grass was about 6 or 7 feet tall and in big thick patches, between garden rows. Sadly the little eggs cracked, I waxed the cracks on one that wasn't too damaged because the other that cracked open was already about half way there. So stuck it in my incubator to see what would happen, I don't think it has much hope, but I'm still very curious as to what they could be. (I know it's not killdeer which is what everyone suggested around in real life)
And they were only the size of my finger nail! Dove maybe? Sparrows of some kind? Wild finch?
Here's some pics

They look a lot like Lark Sparrow eggs to me. I did a little more research and it says they breed in open habitats, where grass joins scattered trees and shrubs, which sounds like it might fit the habitat where you found them, says they like fields. Beautiful little eggs!

I did before I waxed it, it was such a paper thin shell it was amazing, heart beating, thrashing around like they do. I tried to get a pic but of course didn't work. I've been afraid to touch it today to see if it's still alive since the other one that got crushed was so delicate. It actually got crushed when I was barely touching it. I will probably not be able to resist candling it soon though. I would feel awful if I crushed this one though....

Good, still alive.
