Myth busters- advice that keeps coming

Wish I had something relevant to add, enjoyed the thread. Someone must have a broody hen anecdote though!

Mine are pure evil if they go broody real "Broodzillas".
Oh yeah..."don't count your chickens before they hatch " You better. Otherwise, be ready to build a new coop.

I fell for the prefab coop sales pitch too. 6 chickens? Now I realise it was 6 bantams (at a pinch) or two Australorps (also at a pinch). However, the whole thing does make a good nesting box.

I slightly disagree with "they take care of themselves" because a little observation seems to go a long way in spotting sick birds. But otherwise they're independent, especially when compared to other pets like dogs or cats.
