Funny thing about my rooster's comb is that both of his parents had rose combs so I don't know where he got that enormous straight one from.
I know little enough about genetics...but is that possible?????????????

If both parents had a rose comb but also carried a recessive gene for a straight comb. it is possible that the chicks could inherit the straight comb from both of them. Aren't rose and pea combs dominant over single combs?
I don't know to much about genetics but I would say that a parent or both was heterozygous for rose comb and your roo inherited a single comb gene. And if both parents have the gene he could be heterozygous for single or homozygous.Funny thing about my rooster's comb is that both of his parents had rose combs so I don't know where he got that enormous straight one from.
