hei hei hei, why I didn't find this thread before?

I'm one the biggest collopelatomaniac (NNmaniac), like even the scaring ones

I'm working on an inverse selection of malache game, from eggs bought in England

just three hatched and one survived, but, he's the hugest rooster I've ever seen, 6,2 kg x 94 cm (please, don't ask for US measures)

here is my tiny Flamin' Frank

Funny thing about my rooster's comb is that both of his parents had rose combs so I don't know where he got that enormous straight one from.

I know little enough about genetics...but is that possible?????????????

If both parents had a rose comb but also carried a recessive gene for a straight comb. it is possible that the chicks could inherit the straight comb from both of them. Aren't rose and pea combs dominant over single combs?

I honestly don't know but I would love to hear from Kev on this one.

I don't know to much about genetics but I would say that a parent or both was heterozygous for rose comb and your roo inherited a single comb gene. And if both parents have the gene he could be heterozygous for single or homozygous.
But either way if he was bred to another rose comb bird he should have some chicks with rosecombs.
But remember I am actually rather new to genetics and correct if I am wrong but I think this is right.
