Naked Neck/Turken Thread

A major problem people find with grapes is either too much shade or insufficient or unbalanced minerals in the soil. Time of planting is also critical...should be coldest months of fall or spring in my climate. I've been to Southern Greece several years ago with my dad and brother but I surely didn't pay much attention to the what was growing well there except.....well, you should be able to guess.

my vines have problem with too much sun. maybe the roots need more time to establish. it might be soil as well.

Got a picture today.

@Kev

What would you call this color? Black Tailed White? It actually has very few black flecks through out its feathers. It also has a tad bit of red leakage coming out also.

It has me has me guessing what sex it is. First thought pullet. Then thought cockerel, now not sure. Looks almost like a Pullet but has a few longer feathers in the saddle area.

What would be the mother? I had my Golden Partrudge rooster in with 2 Black Gold hens, a Red hen, a Ehite hen, and a Blue Red hen.

STUMPED

Yep, black tail white, same as in black tail Jap/Chabo.

She has white skin, if the rooster has yellow skin.. if only one hen has white skin that is your clue. Otherwise almost all hens you listed are all possible mothers.

it seems that the colour of the future chicks is wait and see, lol.

Just checked. All the hens have blue legs ( except the white hen, yellow) as does the rooster.
Back to the white hen I guess she could carry the white leg gene because her daddy had the blue legs too if I remember right.

Here's a picture of the white hens ( not the BTW) daddy:

The blue/gray legs are quite common in my flock. Right now I'm not too concerned, but would like to get to the yellow legs later.

Ah, maybe will never be able to guess which one is the mother then. I run into this problem often.. something that just can't be avoided with one rooster, multiple hens. There's a bunch of pullets right now I'd really like to cull down but for many of them I have no idea if they were from a brown egg hen or from the green egg hen.. so I have to wait until they start laying to keep the colored eggers(almost gone from the flock, trying to save this trait) and cull the brown eggers by type/weight etc.

White is dominant over yellow skin, so the yellow leg hen is not a carrier- she's "pure" for yellow skin.

However she can still throw blue legged chicks with a blue leg rooster.

Basically think of white skin as NN and yellow as nn if that helps. There is no way to visually tell which ones are Nn though unlike with the naked neck trait. a white skin carrying yellow skin looks exactly the same as pure white skin. So for yellow skin goal, best to use records, for example, all chicks out of the yellow leg hen are carriers.
