It was a shock as I thought that our chickens aren't laying, Out of 6 at best 4 are old enough and 3 did when we first got them, then nothing it has been a few months ! our 2 Cochins Cajun and Creole. were rescued 2 weeks ago. and I thought laid the egg. Guess not

yes it could be from the same hen. the NN are known to lay well even during the shortened days of winter, so it could be her. Does she have a white chest? It looks like it in the last pic. My 2 NN are plain ole red....not saying it is bad, but I like variety in the coop.

HAPPINESS IS A FULL INCUBATOR : )

The eggs marked with green were set 12/4 (29 fertile, 11 clear).
The eggs marked with blue were set 11/27 (22 fertile, 29 clear).
The eggs with a brown mark were set 11/20 (24 fertile, 40 clear)
and go to hatcher TONIGHT!

Not many of the girls in breeding pens are laying and fertility has been low (really low as in no 'rooster action' going on at all in some pens)

Most *could* be Naked Necks.
There are a couple from the single comb Fm pen. Still none fertile from the Fm green-eggers.

Thems a lota eggs Lisa ! Where I live the frizzel does not do well since it does get very cold.

I sure hope that the FM NN green eggers pick up on fertility since I know that that is one of your biggest goals. My project is slow since I do not keep as many birds as needed to get enough production but it still is fun. I need a new rooster also.

My only naked neck-type chicken, a bowtied showgirl who recently has revealed himself to be a cockerel. He has some funky fused 4/5 toes so I most likely will never breed him with my nice white silkie girls. I'll still keep him though, he's a character.

For the longest time I thought it might be a pullet because of the way it bonded so much with one of my young cockerels. It slept underneath his wing for weeks. But then the streamers popped out, and I stopped fooling myself. Oh well, I still love the oddball. One person who visited asked me if I shaved his neck! Here he was as a chick, and a pic of him snuggled underneath his surrogate cockerel "mother" (he's on the left, you can see his little dark eye, along with an itty-bitty white button quail who also thought the sweet silkie cockerel was its mother!)

Two eggs in 1 day: different nest box different looks as well, one was Tan pale more on white side then brown, other one was Brown.... scrambled them with Rice and Oats for chickens Pm treat.
Did not take pic

Used spigot in pump house to fill buckets for Flush.

On a sad note: little NN pullet

Not doing so well. . . I'm holding and put feed in other hand she eats now and then as well as drinks now and then,

In Coop with others same feed and water same temp, did notice she has small cut on web of foot stagers when walking can not jump up.

IDEAS Anyone ?

Sadly I believe that only the strong survive. At least in my flock. I try my best to provide the best atmosphere and feed for growth but do not treat unless the cause is recognizable and simple. For example by accident my flock got infested with mites from a gifted hen who was able to break out of her isolation during a wind storm. I treated my flock for that but only because it was required.

And I forgot about one hen that was lethargic and not eating or drinking. I isolated her and hand fed yogurt and water until I recognized that her nostrils were clogged. After I cleaned out her nostrils with a "q" tip she revived and started to eat on her own. But I feel that if I did not intervened she would have died. But that case was very simple.

This is my bird with the clogged nostrils. Sissy a Polish which are known to have cavernous nostril and to not know enough to stay inside when it rains. So they get wet crests and clogged nostrils. (I guess) I want to breed her to a NN rooster as soon as I can get eggs form Kassaundra and get a lovely NN rooster. ha ha
