I would I FF { fermented feed .} ?1Turken Lover do you feed FF? I think it does wonders and it might just help your little ones get over such a poor start.
1. Even if not overtly outwardly sick, these chickens in the best case sererio were seriously underfed and based on the bottom pic kept in dirty conditions. Then brought to an auction type environment (in itself can stress even healthy birds) but not just the stress of the auction environment but also exposed to whatever conditions were being carried by the other birds there or they outright had. Your birds immune system were weakened already and might not be able to cope w/ both the stress and the exposure to whatever at the auction, and not to mention whatever they were exposed to where they came from, if they weren't fed properly I can't imagine there was any good husbandry of these birds or any other birds they had.
2. As to crush (squeeze) type injuries I would think any injury enough to mortally harm the bird would be evident at the most w/in a few days..
3. Staggered walking can be anything from injury, to weakness from parasites, to infection, to mareks and anything in between Trying to diagnose a bird by symptoms gets tricky since so many sx are the same for a bunch of different things. I am not a good source on treating sick or unhealthy birds since in my flock survival of the fittest applies, all sick or weak birds in my flock get the same "treatment" culling.
4. As to age it is hard to tell from the pics, they have all their feathers so over 5 weeks for sure, they still have a lot of "chick" patterning on their feathers so I would say under 10 weeks, but the under fed condition could affect that.
5. Oh and totally agree that fermented feed would do nothing but help.
1. Yes I forget about the stress birds are under masking things I more then Totally agree with " I can't imagine there was any good husbandry of these birds or any other birds they had."
2 .I noticed her symptom's within hrs... as soon as I could compare to the others
3. Not a Judgment .I'm unwilling to Cull anything, it can/will Die without my assistance X cept for end of life for family cat or dog. and yes if I'm starving I'll CULL birds first
4. age reference, remember the NN twins I had B4 with Banty mom they were healthy from get go ( got @ a few days old ) at this size they were ready to go to new homes, Ooo that reminds me Both are large for an Banty size ( is it a hit or miss that a pairing will make different size chicks ?)
5. what is FF I know it's fermented feed but what makes it special ?
