Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Here is a pic of Big Mama Neck Neck's chick. The only one that I was able to hatch from her.Not real crazy about this little guy right now.But he could grow up to be a good looking bird.

Ok, I think this is one of my fav. ones yet. Look at that sweet face..those eyes look so gentle. I think his coloring is very promising.

Nice solid even buff color! Not easy to get, surprised you got that in a cross.
Hope you guys are not getting tired of me posting so many pics.I am out of work this week(plant shut down for the week.)Everybody is at work or at school. So after everything that needs to be done has been done,I find something to do(take pictures of my chickens.) So here is an updated pic of naked neck X polish cross pullet. She is looking real good.

I have babies tonight, and they aren't supposed to hatch until Fri.! Wow, they are healthy little/big things. Here are some pictures, and I have a question on one, don't laugh, remember, this breed is new to me. The last one that I have pictured, has a dark spot on the head, it also has some dark on the back of the neck, so wondering..if it is just pigmentation..since there is black feathering.
Went into the room to check humidity, and heard cheeping! I say to myself, no way! Then another popped out, then another. I have used this bator many times, the temp stays the same. These eggs are huge. I really didn't think I would get any until late Fri. or maybe even Sat. Oh well..I have another one pipped, and another almost rolled over the whole egg when I was flashing the light around checking the other eggs.

Here is the first one, holding that head up and making noise.
I had a little Silkie hatch earlier, still trying to wake up!

Here it is fluffed up a bit..has a nice bowtie..I think it's called a
bowtie, like the showgirls?

There's the second one..that I have the question about..better
pic. coming up..the third one looks to be a light blue, guessing
a splash. It doesn't have much of a NN..is that something that
can happen like showgirls? Some are silkies, some are showgirls?
It is still wet, so will be able to tell better when it dries just
how much feathering there is.

Here is the spot I was wondering about..dark on the back of the head

Can see it better here..also, if you look close, you can see that
the neck lower down has some dark area.
Thanks for the help!

This is the one with the spot from the front. :) Cute markings.
No feathers on the feet at all.

yes that's good.  shows the feather legged parents probably aren't pure for the feather leg genes.  try not to use any feather leg birds if you want to breed it out.. otherwise it definitely will persist.  especially not two birds with any amount of leg feathers together- will get some 'pure' for some of the leg feather genes that way.
The bummer is that all the featherless legged birds were cockerels... ...next year I'll try it again.

Transylvania is a part of Romania where some think that the NN originated, and Naked Neck is self explanatory.

Thank you so much for replying to my post. :) I am reading up on them more, and am finding out more about them. I do believe that the spot on the head is just pigmentation, I have another one that hatched last night..well two, but that one looks similar to the one with the spot..but it is longer and lower on the neck. Not too worried now. :p
