Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Kev, think I will have to share a video with my young friend! :)

Photo shoot...of my baby Turkens/Naked Necks. Or should it be..Naked Necks/Turkens..yep, the latter.

group shot..I think I'm seeing a lot of white, not quite the color
for buff..I don't think..

And, actually one of the yellow ones, has some black in the wings
already, and on top of the head..white splash?

My fav.. :))

my fav again..

this one has the least amount of feathering up the neck, and back
of neck, except of course, the splash that has all of it's feathering,
not a naked neck.

That's pretty bare all right

Almost twins.

More feathering on this white

Twins again.. :)

The only one born with all the feathering..a splash. I was so
hoping for a splash NN. Pretty baby though.
So 9 babies out of 9 that went into lock down. Started with 13.
Not too bad. More to come. :) Different breeder.

Almost forgot my blue Naked Neck..I like this dark blue,
going to be very pretty.
Cute babies.

Of the ones pictured all are laying except Mensa and the hoodas. The bator is cooking some other NN (poss scaleless), houdans, and one araucana, so no chicks in the immediate (next 21 days) future, but definately going to be some at a later date.

It's funny how there are breeds developed for long crowing(check out Kosova long crowers on youtube) or for strange crows(ayam ketawa also on youtube) yet none for being quiet.... There are some individuals trying to breed for non-crowing(or just quiet) lines but unless it becomes a major thing involving many breeders and thousands birds, can't see a quiet breed coming out anytime soon.
I know there is a need for non-crowers or quiet roosters for poultry owners that live in areas that prohibit roosters.Very thankful I live in a rural area.Enjoy hearing mine and the neighbors roosters crowing.

Thanks Georgia! They are cute..will have more baby pictures in a few days..have more NN's going into lock down tomorrow..different breeder.

You are in Georgia..we have a son going to the Atlantic area for a two year mission. Leaves next month. I used to live in Florida years ago, have told him about the food out that way..He's a skinny little guy now, have a feeling that he will come back with some meat on his bones! He will be in Peach Tree City first..I hear there are a lot of golf carts getting around there. :))

My experience (which is pretty limited) is that barred is pretty dominant. Either roo is very pretty so you can't go wrong. Maybe wait and see how they mature. Lost of cockerels can get kind of nasty once they get the hormones going, around 8 months to a year. That's when I'd make the decision.
The rest are being used for meat once October hits unfortunately. I've already promised that is how it's going to be. :(

Brian is very chillaxed. A few of the barred boys are starting to try and mate. One killed a little call duck trying to mate it - so he is definitely not in consideration.
