Name your quietest chicken breed - Poll

my silkies are the quietest. The noisiest of my bunch are the cochin bantam rooster, and my black austrolorps make a ton of noise all day.

only ever met one quiet chicken... it was a mute barnyard mutt rooster my cousin had growing up.... it was so funny when it tried to crow... for some reason, it never stopped trying...

lol wow a mute chicken?

Great topic, I have been asking this question alot these days because im looking at getting two more bird for my flock a coq and a hen; i have three right now, 2 sexlines and a sussex, and my sex line a super loud and talk evertime i come near, and if they think it is time for a little tour in the garden they dont shut up; but i hardly ever hear anythin out of my sussex, even after she has layed an egg.... nothing. but i have heard alot here in france that the Pekin, is a quieter breed but the breed the most calm and quiet is the Ardennaise. like a gauloise dorée but a bit smaller. but i have no proof of that...........YET!

I don't think much can beat gamefowl. Both American Gamefowl and Oriental Gamefowl (Asils, Thai, Shamos, etc) are very quiet in that even the hens do NOT make the "egg song." Roosters, at least with Oriental Gamefowl, don't crow that much, and both genders aren't too much of loud talkers.

The big thing though is the fact that they don't make the normal daily egg call.
