The roosters you have, PROBABLY a half Japanese bantams in them. I just guess. but the way they keep the tail up that's make they look like have some of Japanese bantams in them. That's was my guess. because I had a Japanese bantams before. they had their tails up like your roosters.

I'm having the same problem except that they were nice to each other when they were in the brooder and then I put them out and they started pecking each other

You have all sold me! I have been researching all the "tiny" chicken breeds to find the best one for my two young daughters to use for their 4-H project. I have been reading and researching for months. I just read through this whole thread in one sitting and I've decided. It's gotta be Nankins! Does anyone have Nankins in Washington State? I have one other "tiny" chicken, an Olandsk Dwarf that was the only girl in her hatch of 7. She is 13 weeks now and gets pushed off by herself by the bigger chickens. They aren't mean, just pushier. She needs some friends her own size. Any suggestions where to find a couple nice, sweet pullets?

Happy to see this thread!  I'm really hoping to start my own little Nankin flock in Vermont, but I'm wondering who else has them in the northern climate & what special considerations for keeping them comfortable during the winter there are.  Any breeder suggestions would also be much appreciated.

I raise nankins over here in Maine with no more troubles then any other bantams. they seem very cold hardy but if you have single combs the combs can freeze. rose combs not so bad.

What class is a Nankin? I have 4-H showmanship tomorrow and I need to know that question because i'm and Intermediet

ether single comb clean leg or rose comb clean leg depending on what you have.

I raise Nankin in maine too. I had no problems with it either. but i have to put the things on their comb to keep frostbite away.

I've been pondering many kinds of bantam, and after Walt nudged me this way (and someone else did a while back) I'm going to read the whole thread and do some other research. I'm looking to find RC if possible, also in WA state.
