Hi.
I'm new to the whole backyard chicken thing and have noticed this growth on my chick in the past week. I have looked into fowl pox and don't believe it is that and Mareks disease doesn't match either as it's bahviour is normal also.
I can't see any obvious puss or cheesy stuff coming from it but have been putting betadine on it daily. I'm lost as to what it might be.

Any ideas and solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

It looks like it's part of the chook. It feels soft. When it runs around it wobbles.
Sorry for the weird discriptions lol.

Welcome to BYC.

It looks like she may have an ear infection.

Make sure she is eating well and staying hydrated. Some poultry vitamins in her water may be beneficial.

You will need to see if there is any pus in the ear or seek a vet's assistance in checking the ear and removing any infection.

Here's some treatment info:

I went out to see if I can get anything out of it and was unsuccessful. The lump was very firm. It seems to have gotten larger also. I also noticed for the first time bubbles in the corner of its eye. These were not their at the beginning of the day. It doesn't seem to sound like it is struggling with breathing.

I'm thinking it isn't going to be a happy ending for this little one, however I feel sick at the thought of how i may end its life. I seriously don't think I can do it.

Bubbles in the eye are usually associated with a respiratory infection. The lump may well be an ear infection as a result of the respiratory problem. @casportpony will probably be the best person to advise you on a suitable antibiotic and dosage for it, if a veterinary visit is not an option. Good luck with your chick.

Thankyou! This is better news then I thought I'd get. Vet visit really isnt an option at this point so if @casportpony can help that would be great.

Thanks again.
