@Fields Mountain Farm haha true! You are all making me want chickens lol! Just need to get my back garden done up and that will be me :D

@WVduckchick lol how many chickens do you have ?

Oh dear, I did a semi-count a while back, I’m probably at a little over 100. My girls have been very broody this year. I try to limit them to 3-6 chicks each, but multiplied by 20 or more hens/pullets.... well..... :gig

I know ha! Yes he has had a good feed, his wee crop is nicely full and hes sleeping away :) hes doing really well, putting on weight each day and very lively, i think he'll be a wee crazy one as he gets older lol!! I want to name him but need to wait until i can tell if hes male or female, even though i keep calling him a he haha!
I hope you will choose a name sooner - it's hard to be sure of gender when they are young.

So, could you build a small loft, like four by four, if you only wanted to keep a couple pairs?

Because now I want a couple pairs, lol.
In theory you could do this, its just that a couple of pairs can become 16 birds in the blink of an eye. Pigeon math proceedes on a whole other level vs chickens. Every pigeon hen is a broody and all the cockbirds share incubating duties.

My loft didn't take much to build. It was well worth it. The feeling you get when you first let them out and they return is priceless!
