Much better idea, I have both Coturnix and Buttons and the Coturnix are easily three or four times the size of the Buttons. Even if you had a very peaceful group I would still be afraid of the Coturnix outcompeting the buttons for food and stepping all over them. With incubation it depends on what temp you keep it at, if it's around 100 Coturnix can hatch in 16 days but normally they hatch in 18, while buttons will hatch in 16.

Yep, having this issue now. Luckily my humidity and temps are controllable, as I'm having to take the buttons out once they are dry... rather than the normal 24hrs.

Just make sure there's enough of a heat gradient in the critter keeper so the chicks can move away from the heat when they get too warm.

Aye, it is a bigger one, about a ft long, so plenty of gradient. I'll be moving them all into a 4ft brooder when they are a week or so, again, with the buttons separated in a yet bigger critter keeper (2x1)
