Nevadans?

I just did a search on BYC and sounds like it's not a problem. I'm going to put a fan on the one in the shed coup because it's hotter in there then the place the other two are. Hope to take some eggs from the Polish girl today and give them to the new broody. Poor thing is flattened out like a pancake trying to cover them all.

Meet Pot and Pie. Sour accepted them within a minute, even though they're just over a week old. They're mixed breed, not sure exactly what... the two daddies are a Jersey giant and a cochin, and I think the mom was part cochin. We chose two babies with the skinniest legs, but the lady we got them from said she would gladly take back any roosters.

That's wonderful Missy! I'm so happy for your little hennie-poo! She looks happy... and protective! Now, have the babies accepted her? Being a week old already... hope all goes well.

They dove right under her. I considered waiting until dark, but figured they'd do better with a mom if she accepted them right away, so I gave it a shot. They got taken directly away from one mom, rode in a box for a half hour, and got another mom.

My chicken dog wanted to be the mom... just like she does with every new baby we bring in. Even before I opened the box... before they even peeped... she was waiting for me to open it. I take each baby and introduce it to her, and she licks the face and the butt. Then she has to watch me put it in its new home, and checks up on it. I have to tell her a few times that they're not her babies, and she's always been great about that. But if the babies start to cry, she's right there. She could probably even take care of them, if a chick could endure constant butt licking.

So cute! Glad Sour got her babies!

Do you need more homes for babies? I could put a few more of the same age in my pen, and look for homes when they get a bit bigger, or give them back when you have more room. I'd hate to see andalusians culled just because you have too many. But that all depends on when you're in town. And, of course, if you're fine with this past respiratory issue that we had in April.

Thank you Missy. I had 5 little boys that needed to "go" and when I did a check on them to see what kind of structure they had, I ended up keeping 3 of them!

At least temporarily. They have a little more time before I have to make a final decision. I'll give them a chance to grow some new feathers and then I'll see how they look. Then I'll compare them with the nicer ones before I decide to do the deed. I'm trying to improve production in them and the males do contribute to their daughters. We'll see.

I appreciate the offer. I haven't checked over the little girls yet. So, I'll let you know. Thanks again.

Would I really be crazy if I made some homemade treats for my chickens?

P.S. Sorry for the x-ray effect, it is suppose to be a light pink color, but for some reason, whenever I upload the picture, it turns out like this!

Crazy? Hmmm... I've had people over helping me make jelly from my grapes, and when they see an earwig, I hand them a container to save it for my chickens. I think I'm crazier than you.
