Hi everyone. I'm just stopping in to see how everyone's doing and by what I see you are all doing good.

Re: Master Gardeners...

"To attend some of the classes put on for the public, google "Grow Your Own
Nevada" or "Gardening in Nevada". The next Master Gardener training is 5
weeks next February/March, T,W,Th 1 - 4 p.m. If she is interested call
784-4848 and get put on the interest list and she will be contacted."

Re: Mayonnaise...

2 eggs
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp celery salt
dash of pepper or cayenne
1/3 cup lemon juice or vinegar
2 cups salad oil or extra light olive oil

In a blender, chop the first 8 ingredients and 1/4 cup of the oil for 5 seconds. Add remaining oil in a fine steady stream, through the top opening while the motor runs, about 60 seconds, or until thick and smooth. If necessary, stop motor and push ingredients into blades.

Makes: about 2 and 2/3 cups.
Missy, I've been making mayo for years now. I only use eggs, lemon juice, salt and oil. The dry mustard helps to stabilize it but if you run your blender long enough it should be just fine.

I'm like you Sunny, I started back like 9 pages ago and I just gave up now.
Take care and have a goodnight.

~GOOD MORNING~
Just wanted to let everyone know that NNPFA(Northern Nevada Poultry Fanciers Assoc for all the new folks on here) is having our next Poultry Swap on Sunday Sept 16th at 1-Stop Ranch and Feed on Glendale Avenue.

We will take unwanted roosters for a $5 donation to the club. Anyone can set up and sell birds at the swap we just ask that you give a donation to the club. We are working to rasing money for our annual show.....this year November 17th is the date to save for the Youth and Open Poultry Show. All donations go directly into the show to pay for renting the Livestock Events Center, city permits, bldg insurance, table and chair rentals, fire inspection fees($2400.00) the funds also go into purchasing trophies and ribbons for the youth show($400). We are strictly a volunteer club and we welcome anyone that is interested in joining or volunteering with our club. We set up Friday coop in friday night and Saturday am. Show begins at 9 am. This really is an all day Saturday event and is free to the public, and Tanners Flea market is being held next door!

We have some news!! This year we will have the FIRST EVER Table Top Serama Show and Call Duck District Meet!!! We expect to surpass 500 bird entries with the Serama show promising an extra 100 birds. We get entries from all over the west coast including Idaho and southern California. There is a sale area, raffle(we are always accepting donations for the raffle new or gently used items especiall poultry related).

We will also have vendor booths available for a small fee. BYC usually has a table set up which is no cost (Bring your own table and chairs we have to pay for all the tables we use) Let me know if you guys will be setting up a table.

I read somebody was concerned about picking up diseases and bringing them home to their own flock, while I agree this is a concern, each individual needs to be their own bio security for their flock. Bleach is a good disinfectant, and I have special shoes that I use only with my flock. I hope everyone will stop by the show to see some amazing birds. The sale area is not as big as the Stockton show in January but sometimes you will find some amazing birds.

SETH: Loved visiting your set up!! Your coop is very nice and your parents are great! Thanks for letting me visit and drop off your new little girl!

PS: I currently have for sale: a trio of Cayugas and several Call Ducks(blue Fawn, Pied and Gray)

If you can't have roosters, call ducks probably aren't a good idea, either!

How deeply was that manure buried? I would probably need a back hoe to get any buried here.

That sounds like a dream come true.

The manure was at the bottom and I think we had about 2 feet of top soil on the top. It might've been less (I wasn't the engineer on the barn terraces). But the trees were little under $10 trees from the supermarket.... You know, the twig ones. After I planted them AND painted the trunks white to protect from sunburn it took a good couple of weeks before my husby realized I had an orchard out there.... Yeah, diet (skinny) orchard. A couple of years later it was undeniable. I guess the manure had aged by the time the roots got long and deep enough to hit it.

I think we used a bobcat and loader to empty the manure/compost pile into the boxes. At the time I had a 6 stall barn and lots of byproducts.
