I have been way chatty tonight! I wonder if you can tell that I'm nervous about school starting Monday and that I actually have a ton of stuff to do before then. HA! I'm so good at avoiding stuff I don't wanna do...especially when I HAVE TO do it! I'm stressing and chickens chill me out. I may even have to watch my fish tonight. *sigh* I wish I could be like these ladies...just chillin' and layin' around doin' nuthin'!

Sorry. I'll stop ranting now. I do like my job. Honest!
glad it turned out ok! that banana is quite a character!WOW, that is extra super cute!!!!
reminds me of this photo i posted on facebook yesterday (NOT my photo)
tee hee hee!
Sheesh so now i am just toying with EVERYONES emotions! Went to go put Banana BACK in the coop and mama cochin had all three tucked under her chest and was probably FINALLY comfy. three little heads poking out, with banana in the middle and the two little ones on either side of her.
But she is back in the coop and I am confident that she will stay warm in there. Probably wondering what the heck just happened!
Thanks all!
I'm with you on planting more flowers. I have some bee activity but not quite enough. I read that borage is really good to plant. it attracts a lot of bees so i'm thinking that will be one to plant next year.I would love it if someone around here had bees. I spent all summer playing matchmaker with the squash and the tomatoes! Next year I'm planting a ton of flowers amongst my veggies! Sheeesh!
that sounds like fun. if my husband weren't working I might think about going but I get nervous with 2 kids in the pool by myself when it's crowded. hope it's a nice day.I'm sorry you're missing your flock! I hate it when I can't see mine too! I was able to see them a bit today but to miss the whole summer would suck!![]()
Just to let everyone know who is in the Reno area or who ever would like to come. The GSR is having a re-launch day tomorrow, or by looking at the time now today, and the pool is open to the public for free! Anyone can come included children. It's going to be crowded but it should be a fun day. All sorts of goodies are going on there so if you want to come and just relax please do.
LOL!! That's why I got them in the first place - I discovered that I make a lousy bee!My neighbor 2 doors down has bees. Thanks to him, I didn't have to play squash blossom matchmaker.
Thanks! I didn't even think about that - good ol' Copy and Paste!Okay you two...I'll get right on it!
Best way to do this is to literally highlight the photo, press control c, then go to the page you want it on and press control v .... try it. It works for me!

Amen to that, sister! I enjoy my job, too, but it doesn't leave much time for the things I really want to do!I have been way chatty tonight! My husband and I picked up our pears yesterday. I thought each box would be 25lbs. More like 50. I have 100lbs of pears sitting in my living room. Russ gave me the first "are you crazy" look of the season. I told him not to worry... one of the boxes was going to be divided up between two friends who are hooking us up with other foods. With our last 50, I think I'm going to do a mix of dehydrating, pear butter, cranberry pear jam, gingered pear, pear lime, maybe the carrot cake one. We'll see... we use most of our jams as toppings for yogurt.
This photo is called "How I Spent My September... Not Counting the Grapes that are Still on the Vine, or the Plums Still on the Tree."
The tomatoes are going in the dehydrator (the small ones, not the heirlooms,) as are grapes, pears, plums, and probably my surplus eggs once my girls start laying. The grapes will all be ripe within a week. The plums from my trees within 2 weeks. Those pears within 1-2 weeks. The nectarines any day now. Those peaches are ripe NOW (one of my projects for today.) And those plums got picked by a friend, still a little green, so I don't think I'll stress those. They're going to be dehydrated, anyway. I'll use my tree plums for the gingered plum jam. And the corn doesn't have to be milled immediately... we can use it for Halloween decorations first, then grind it. But the rest will need to be picked within the next few weeks, and the potatoes in probably 3 weeks or so. Green beans need picked and frozen about every 4 days now. And my friend with the apples is going to need them picked early, in a few weeks, because the power company is going to come and cut back her branches, so we can let them ripen the rest of the way in a closet. I told Russ not to plan anything for me this September.
so Mark had an interesting idea today. We were talking about insulting the coop to muffle some of the morning crowing and realized it may not be an easy thing to do with the rubbermaid shed. He suggested that we invest in a bunch of bales of hay to pile around the coop on three sides all the way up to the roof. Thought it may even help keep it a little warmer in the winter, whaddya think?
I understand ventilation just fine, (Sunny has been a great spring of knowledge on this subject for us for the past few years) we wouldnt cover up the vents or the windows, plus we leave one of the big doors open no matter what the temp during the day to make certain of good air replenishment, which is why only three sides would be covered.
