Nevadans?

Before the show or lunch break works for us. We never planned for after the show. Anyone showing would then have birds packed up and you can't leave them in a hot car to go to Carrows. Also anyone showing will be so busy that a meetup would be hard no matter what on that day. Unless your only showing 1 or 2 birds. Not excluding anyone. All are welcome but I know it is hard for those folks who will be busy at the show.

If anyone showing is too busy to go but would love to have something to eat from Carrows, DH and I could pick up an order to go. I know we were starving last year and there were no food vendors at the show.

Last night around midnight we found Russ' baby tortoise missing, and knew one of the dogs had taken him. Thinking the worst, we scoured the backyard with flashlights three times, and even the chicken coop... maybe an empty shell? We looked all around the houseplants by the tortoise cage. We searched for an hour. Then Russ pulled back one of the blankets that his dog uses for her bed, and found the tortoise nestled in there. Cold, but safe and unhurt. This dog tries to mother the baby chicks. Apparently she needed to mother the tortoise as well.

Ron thanks for showing us the chicken fortress etc. Love your property! It has a beautiful view and the pics I'd seen on here never showed the beauty of it well. See ya next weekend if all goes well.
Thanks Sunny and it was great seeing the two of you, also. I was mad at myself that I didn't think of directing you to the Gold Canyon Steak House in Old Dayton for dinner. Guess I won't be making the local Chamber of Commerce anytime soon...

I love the Thai basil but I've really only had it in the Vietnamese Phô soups or in Wor Won Ton. You tear it up fresh and add directly into the soup - soooo good!

Whew - I'm so glad you found it! I was thinking as I was reading your story that I've never heard of a dog trying to eat a tortoise before. They usually won't even try top play with them for very long because the tortoise will retreat into the shell and hide. Not much fun there!

Last egg hatching I had two that went to term but didn't pip. Thinking they might be shy or late bloomers, I left them in the incubator after removing all the chicks that had hatched the day before. Gabby, our St. Bernard cross, is FASCINATED by chicks. The mere sound of peeping (even on TV) will have her come running from another room.

Anyway, long story shortened, I came into the room where the incubator was and the top had been knocked off and there was one of the two eggs in the middle of the floor! I had no doubt who the culprit was as Gabby's nimble lips can pluck a single solitary sausage out of a frying pan without disturbing the others. (Did I mention she was a big, tall dog and very agile?)

We're still having debates here months later as to what her intentions were......

Poor little tortoise! Probably started slowing down it's heart for hibernation.
Wow, I haven't been on here in centuries it feels like! School has made me sooo busy!

I will probably be there too, so count me in. Can't wait

LOL! OK I guess we'll have to try the steakhouse the next time.

I guess we should try the Thai basil before we judge. I don't usually care for strong spices/herbs and Steve absolutely hates anything spicy (he says Popeyes is way too spicy and I think they are pretty mild) but I'll give it a try sometime.

I assume the developed chickie didn't make it. You need to video that 1 sausage trick and put it on youtube. I've never seen a dog that was so considerate they only took 1 sausage and left the others undisturbed.
