well that's good that lots of jobs got done. with it being so cold today, i'm not surprised they went for steamed milk. and what a nice fix up for your new canning room. btw, your plum jam is so delicious.Ooh I wish I had paid more attention to the art website! My kids were here all day today, and I was cracking the whip. Actually it was nice, because we got a lot done that I haven't gotten done because I've been sitting on my butt making up stories on the computer. I wrote out a list of jobs, and had a contest to see who could do the most jobs. They both worked so hard that they both won... and my husband won the right to stop hearing me complain about those jobs! I let the kids go to 7-11 for steamed milks, since they weren't at all interested in Slurpees today.
You put in a closet system... nice!!! I ripped apart an old cheap dresser that had been left on the curb and ghetto-fitted my daughter's half-bathroom into the new canning storage room. You know, the bathroom that I had once turned into a chicken brooder by putting a wire gate across, throwing straw down, and duct-taping the toilet closed just in case she chose to use it anyway? Yeah, that one. It's amazing how many mason jars a toilet can hold when you throw an old dresser top on it.
(Anyone have a banjo? I think I need a new theme song.)
Thank you for the invite and I will try to come but with everything going on here I may not be able to get away. So everyone have fun if I can't make it and please tell all about it later for those of us that may get stuck at home...Ok, here is the official invitation:
If you do contribute, or have contributed to the Nevada thread, you are cordially invited to join us at Carrow's for lunch on Saturday, the 17th, at 11am. (Everyone picks up their own checks, of course.)![]()

I would love to get notice of that myself next year! Hopefully we can make it then.well that's good that lots of jobs got done. with it being so cold today, i'm not surprised they went for steamed milk. and what a nice fix up for your new canning room. btw, your plum jam is so delicious.
i'm kicking myself for missing october's second saturday since that was dia de los muertos. hopefully I will pay attention next year and get my kids to that. we had planned to go to one by the latino club at unr on oct 20th but our errands after soccer took a little longer and then there was a unr football game so by the time we got over there it was a traffic and parking nightmare so we skipped it.
Got 'cha. We really miss having a woodstove too. Our living areas are still too cool when the bedrooms are roasting so a wood or pellet stove would be a huge help.John and I have finally figured out what fireplace insert we want for the house. It only took us 17 years to do it but at least we now know what we are going to buy. We really wanted to bring our fireplace insert from California but that one went with the house so well we left it. Plus, when we were looking for a house everyone said the woodstove couldn't stay so we figured we couldn't have our insert either. Boy were we wrong there. At least we know we can have one now and all is good. I really can't wait for it. I miss my other woodstove.
Yeah, these raccoons are nasty. I really feel for Aubrey knowing what she goes through all of the time. I have a huge double door trap on it's way right now and we know what we are going to do with them once we catch them. We just noticed some shingles on our roof are lifted up over our side eaves of the house. Luckily that part of the roof does not go into our attic. I had no idea raccoons will tear apart a roof on a house just so they can live in the attic but they will. These guys are going to be out of here before we know it and they will not ever be back here again. Super nasty critters they are!
Count me in for Carrows - 1 please.
Looks good from what I can see.It was soooo COLD yesterday that we didn't get as much done as we wanted with all the warm up breaks...

Yes you have had a nasty last 2 months and I think anyone would be more than a little down having to deal with all that! We understand Sweetie! Hope it gets better soon! There's only so much a body can take at one time!Hey guys! Sorry I havent been around too much. October was a very hard month for me and november is shaping up the same. Ive been really pessimistic and ornery sos trying not to spread the bad mood everywhere i go, HA! (those that know me well know that it is very hard for me to see a downside to anything, these past few weeks are really REALLY testing me) Anyway...
Sheryl I m sorry for your coon woes. I will say that once i started masterlocking everything i have not had one issue with coons. Not one. I have three locks- two on the big doors and one on the pop door. I keep the keys on a hanger next to my back door. I think it will help you a lot. when they get bored of not having a way in they will go away i am certain.
Hey count me in for two for lunch. I need it!
