I will be thinking about rehoming a few hens some time this month if anyone in the Reno area will be interested or know interested parties. So far on the list 1 each of LF blue cochin, dark brahma, norwegian jaerhon (small, friendly and lays medium to large white egg; I have 2 others and want to keep 2). Possibly a lavender ameraucana and black/lavender split ameraucana. I just need to have a smaller flock due to grumpy neighbor. all of these are 1 year old with the first three from ideal and the last two from n. cal breeders. the lav is either from Candy (chickee) or her friend Kirsti and the black/lav is from Kirsti. I probably need to reduce by a few more but that's all that I can muster for my list right now. I love my girls! These ones are not particularly loud birds either. I'm just reducing numbers to reduce overall noise.
that's great but I'm also thinking, who would complain about 2 rabbits? I thought they were pretty quiet or how much could 2 rabbits poop? I wouldn't think a neighbor would even notice a rabbit. how exciting about the chicks coming. I loved having chicks. My kids think we should take home the chicks they are hatching at school but I said, no chicks this year and I'm sticking to it.
I'm thinking those are pretty crabby neighbors. My neighbors haven't said a thing about the rabbits, and they're right up against the fence between our yards. They don't smell unless you let the poop stay all wet and gross under the cage, and that involves a lot of neglect.
Elizabeth, if you can't find homes, I can mention it on the Ames Family Farm page. So far, it's been successful in rehoming animals.
