Nevadans?

Trust me, I don't do the pass in bad weather. Saw my worse accident on it when I was a little girl. A truck and a school bus went over. My family was up there for hours while they tried to find survivors, which they didn't. Both vehicles stayed there for years before they removed them.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind delivering a roo if needed, just got to be able to fit it in. Probably would be a better idea if I did it after I sell my car and get something else though. Wanna buy a car Sunny?

Right now we're dealing with flooded roads and I have to yards full of mud. The runs are horrible. I really need someone to help me get a bale of hay picked up. Kind of just don't fit in my car.

ummm cookies? what kind? I haven't really done anything for Christmas. Did get the tree last night and decorated it today with Dakotah and Makayla. Well mostly Makayla. Just not the same this year. I have stuff to make a few kinds of cookies and some fudge, but can't seem to do it. Every year I saw it's my worse Christmas yet and they usually turn out just fine. This year will definately be the worse in my life.

I can tell it's the holidays for sure. Starting to feel achy all over. Just what I need.

I must really want cookies or something cause I just hit the candy stash.

Holy Comoly, y'all are a busy bunch, lol. I guess I need to check in a bit more frequently. Thanks you everyone for the warm welcome! I hope that your cookie exchange was a blast! I wish I'd checked in earlier; I would have liked to participate... I LOVE cookies (both the baking and eating).

I have some AWESOME news, too. Our neighbor boy (same kid that owns the chicken-hungry dog) found our little EE! Bunny is safe and sound...she was out on her own for about 48 hours, and is missing quite a few feathers on her rump...but she's alive!!! I'm so very thankful. We also found the remains of Omelet (though there wasn't much). It gives me a little peace knowing that she hadn't been injured and hiding somewhere...she went quick.

Gennie-I'm going to PM you...those little chickies are so gosh-darn cute!

Sunny and Carol-I'm going to try and keep updated on your chick ordering plans. I may very well be in the market for a couple of chocolate egg laying birdies.

Thank you all again for making me feel so welcome, and Happy Weekend!

The snow is melting fast here in town but I'm sure the pass is still a mess. You are welcome anytime Kim! The car however is a little over the top for our lifestyle though.

It's a gorgeous car though! You need to post a pic of your car so folks here know what we are talking about.

Thanks to everyone who braved the weather and came to the cookie exchange. I had a blast although I had way too many cookies and treats left today so I took some of them with me to the sing-a-long at my folks retirement complex. They really appreciated the extra goodies and I still have lots left! We had about 14 different types of cookies and treats and everything I've tried so far has been delicious!

Stacy we have one of these every year so you can make it to the next one! SparksNV (Carol) wants to have a hatching egg/cookie exchange in spring since she was sick yesterday and couldn't make it. Sounds like a winner to me! If we all bring 2 dozen fertile eggs (or treats for those that don't have roos) and get 8 folks to come we can get 3 eggs each from those that have fertile eggs to take home and hatch! If half of us bring eggs and half bring treats that means great food and a dozen eggs each to hatch. I love a variety of chickens so that would work for me! (I might want to trade bantams for large fowl though)

Hi everyone! Feeling better..

Great photos everyone! How about this rain? I'm feeling like I'm back in Louisiana again - only no thunder and lightening...

Sunny, I like your ideas on the hatch exchange! We can firm things up after the first of the year. Now, to let dh know...

I also caught an egg right out of Sassy yesterday - what an experience!

I am very happy to say I now have 5 of 6 hens laying! Flower gave me the most beautiful ugly green egg ever! I love it!

This was the scene everywhere in Elko a couple of days ago...This is a glimpse of my humble coop looking at my other neighbor..Thanks to Jeepers I am getting better at the photos..(I think!???)

Since it was a rainy day today...I decided to build my first brooder! My hen went crazy broody this week, and so have I---must be contagious---anyways, I have marked the vents of my Cochin hens to ensure the eggs I incubate are pure bred Standard Cochins. Daddy is a Super handsome Blue, and mama with either be my Buff Cochin hen, or Black Cochin hen. I have photos of them up on a few pages back. As I experiment with my new broody hen and brooder, I will probably have some Chicks up for grabs in the very near future if anyone is interested...I live in Spanish Springs.

I think we will be blown off the map here by morning...friends in western Sierras areas say they got 5 inches of rain last week...you in Reno are getting it now...no telling what we end up with!
Give me pogonip anytime rather than this..the birds agree!
My neighbor had surprise banty cochin chick hatch last week..unfortunately it died two days ago..she thought it had been trampled by the parents..Is this normal?
