Nevadans?

Thanks Ron - I e-mailed Nikki asking her if she has any for sale so I'm hoping to hear from her soon. I think I'm going to start farming them myself. It seems really simple to do but it takes 3 or more months to get your farm going. Is there a grass I can grow in my yard for the little wormies too?

mealworms are super easy to raise. I started with a container of 35 and I now have...............well lots

DH calls them my science experiment. Here is a great article on them: http://www.sialis.org/raisingmealworms.htm A bag of bran from the feed store and left over kitchen produce (celery, pototoes, apples, zucc) for moisture and you are all set.

I do not feed medicated feed to my flock, and I start A LOT of chicks - both by broody and by incubation.

I do not feed a layer feed either.......for a number of reasons I wont get into, cause I might need a soapbox

. But I do go thru a lot of oystershell.

I have used Greens...........I love them - the whole lot of them - and they are very friendly and carry a wide variety of items. But do the incredible increase in food costs, the amount of feed I go thru............I have changed feeds - away from Purina (who has horrible, horrible customer service anytime I have had a problem)............so now purchase from 1-Stop Ranch & Feed, Jim and his wife Debbie are super friendly and very willing to help in any way that they can. They are a newer small place, but so far I have been happy. Although I am so torn.....the people at Greens know me, so I feel bad sometimes, but my wallet feels better.

Well it was my first time with baby chicks and I listened to Green's on what to feed them and non of them got or had cocci so all was good there.

Is it possible to buy some worms from you Genny? I'll need to get them tomorrow before Bella runs out of them, I'm down to my last 3 container's. I guess I can put them in a container and start growing them myself but still 3 or more months isn't going to help Bella right now?

sherylreno If you want to drive out here tomorrow, I will sell you some - mealworms plus beetles to start your colony.

chicharomirinda I am feeding Bar-Ale Turkey feed - it is a 22% protien feed and a 50 pound bag cost $16.55 where the Flock Raiser I was feeding is a 20% and just went up to $19.75. Just a couple dollars difference, but I am like the higher protien.

The folks at the new store will get to know ya too. Thanks for posting the other store's name. I know you told me about them but I couldn't remember the name, all I remembered was that they were in Sparks.

They are not far from where I buy my tortillas so now it's easier to justify the long drive! Ok don't laugh at me for driving all the way to Sparks for tortillas. I can't find anybody closer that makes decent ones!
