looked fine to me. check about the website sunny and how many marans do you have ???? I want one and only one maran. this is probly what sunny and abruy sounded like when they got chickens just a few and look at them now

That's what I told my husband the first time. I only want 3, to give us a few eggs and keep the bugs down.

I could sell you one of my hens if you want. Only 1 has the perfect amount of copper in her hackles but I haven't checked her legs for feathering. Too young to check eye color too. They should have a "bay" colored eye by 4 months and they are 3 and a half months old. I also would need to check her beak color and check all her feathers since I know you are looking for something to show. If you take my only SQ pullet at this age it wouldn't be cheap like the chicks are though.

OK I had a delay this morning. Went to head out early while it was still dark and as I went to lock the door I heard a low growl somewhere behind me. With my hands full and no weapon I did not feel like just taking a chance so I went right back inside, quickly slamming the door shut. I waited 5 mins and went back out, armed this time and saw nothing. I heard nothing either so I went on my way.

This afternoon I went to check for prints and found them a lot closer than I thought the growl had come from. At first all I spotted were some small cat prints, looks like a neighborhood cat, some deer, rabbit and some (OH NO I thought we were too far from water to have them!) raccoon prints!!! Just as I was cursing the coon prints which made a bee line for the coop and back (it's ok the coop is secure and all is fine) I saw a HUGE print just inside the run area! It is massive. Bigger across than my camera is wide and my camera is not small!

It's a mountain lion. A big one. I don't know why I was surprised. Genny was just telling me she saw some massive prints and she isn't that far from me. I know mountain lions cover a tremendous amount of territory, I guess I was just hoping his territory went the other way! Naive or overly optimistic I know but I clung to that thought til I was faced with evidence to the contrary this afternoon. I need fencing around this property! Or at least another 2 feet more fencing on the run area.
