Nevadans?

My niece works as the bakery manager at al-Mart. Most people don't know this, but Wal-Mart sells the used buckets from the bakery. Not free, but they are a bargain at $1 for a 5-gallon bucket!

You may have to ask a manager 'cause most of the employees don't know about it, either. I'll ask her what the SKU # is and post it here for you all.

Last year, before I found out about Whole Foods, I looked at the price of buckets retail. A good $5 per bucket, more for the white ones. With Whole Foods, it's a gamble... you may get there and find 10 of them... or none.

Missy,

Shrimp, wild greens, bread sticks but instead of the deserts you listed I would do cream puffs, they are much easier and faster. Here's the recipe:

1 cup water
1 stick butter
1 cup flour
5 large eggs

Place the butter and water into a medium heavy pan and bring to boil. Once the butter is melted dump in the flour and stir until the flour seperates from the pan. Keep stirring the mixture until it cools about 3 minutes. Add eggs one at a time stirring at all times until the mixture glistens then add the next egg. Drop batter by teaspoons on a cookie sheet and bake 30 mins in a 375 degree oven. Pull out of the oven and slit with a sharp knife and check to see if the center is completely hollow. If not place in the oven and bake another 5 minutes.

Cool the cream puffs completely and stuff with whipped cream or custard and sprinkle the tops with powder sugar just before serving. It's better to fill them when you are ready to eat them so the puffs don't get soggy.

Oooh that sounds fabulous!

I looked up the panna cotta recipe, and it's just about as easy. Hmmmm, decisions.

okay guys i just got rid of red and gilbert which means that I am down to 14 hens and one rooster, so therefor 7 more hens only equals 21 hens and a rooster.
my coop is 8x11 which means i can comfortably hold 22 chickens but since a few of mine are bantams we might as well just say it can hold 30...
with that logic im still okay, right?!

Aubrey - I don't think you'll ever be okay!

Seriously though, you are okay. You are talking sleeping area versus free ranging during the day. Because your flock free ranges during the day then you can actually have 44 chickens if they only sleep in the shed. If you lock them in there regularly then 22 is the max for you and that means you still are okay.

My flock only goes into the coop to sleep and lay eggs. They never stay in the coop and they free range as much as possible every day when we are home. We were letting them free range when we were not at home but Wynonna had an accident and we almost lost her so we keep them locked up again until we get home.

Aubrey, you just got permission to get 23 more chickens! Lol!
