Nevadans?

Well blah... it only dusted like I was pretty sure it was going to do. It is still pretty early for the annual big dump of 1 ft. of snow which is usually gone by noon.

But at least the weather held up for everyone that went to the show today.

Third night in the new coop and the girls finally went back inside by themselves AND we added an additional 250w bulb on the side I originally had planned to put the second batch of babies and it brought the temperature up enough that I was able to put them out in the coop tonight. This means my house is finally chicken free!!!!!

Silly gals - they don't want to come out of the coop with snow on the ground! Won't even venture out! It's gonna be a loooong winter...

Should I just pick one up and put them outside?

I'll check with my friend at work about when he wants the chickies...

It was pretty funny yesterday - DH has not been home when the chickens had to deal with snow. It was a huge door pile up yesterday - with the ducks pushing out under the chickens to exit the coop. Ducks do not care about the snow

We shovel paths for them, the chickens, to walk on from the coop to their favorite spots. Also helps the snow melt faster in those areas.

i finally got a blue hen today!!

thanks genny! youre the best! im going to work with this girl and try to make her less afraid of me. i chased her for a good ten minutes when i got home before i could actually catch her (shes very QUICK!) but when i did i just sat in the sun with her in my lap and stroked her head and talked to her for about ten minutes and she actually fell asleep!
even my mean girls have taken to her much better than they did with the buff. my easter egger has been following her around all day. She got a couple of pecks but nothing very bad at all.

i went in the coop to make sure she had tucked herself in and panicked when i didnt see her. well durr she was sleeping on the floor, LOL. So i picked her up to put her on the perch and shes been fast asleep there ever since. poor thing, rough day, haha.

anywhooo, ive got high hopes for this girlie. thanks so much for everything
