Lock down! I have 45 eggs I just put into lockdown. A few of them were a little iffy but I left them alone. 2 more were definite quitters. I never expected so many babies to make it! Don't know what I'm going to do with so many chicks.

Good save! But I meant to hatch and I eat mine all the time. Although after finding out that marans eggs sell for up to $45 a dozen in France I do feel a little guilty!!! But not too guilty since they are devine!
$45 a dozen!
For that price you could air freight them to France and still make money!

Yea, my birds aren't dual purpose for the most part. I have a lot of dark feathered birds which put some people off since the skin still has black dots left after plucking.
Not sure how much meat you'd get off an ameraucana or EE anyway and the marans are too valuable. So you are correct. They are not good for meat. Once we get a place in the country I will have some dual purpose birds though. That and I'll get a calf for some succulent grass fed beef.

Tomorrow I'm setting eggs from my girls, so FBCM, Silkie, Game x, EE's and OEs and I have eggs I just got in the mail, so B/B/S AMs. OEs and .................................Cubalayas!

Hi guys. I have 3 TJ eggs in lockdown right now. Didn't have as much luck as some have with them, but I have three left and they look great. Since they're cheap it's a good way to practice some hatching if you've never done it before.
