I thought for sure you had that warehouse job! Did you do a follow up with them? You can politely send an email to the person who interviewed you thanking them for their time and for considering you for the position, don't forget to say that you were very impressed by the company and how much you would enjoy working for them. Close with how much you look forward to hearing from them once they've made their decision. When I'm having to decide between several qualified candidates this type of email really makes an impression (and they are too few and far between).

Good luck!!! Sending lots of hopeful energy your way that the perfect job comes your way soon!

Yes it's supposed to get warm again but rapid changes in temps are much harder on the body than just plain cold. Guess I'm not done complaining yet either.

I'm not ready to drain hoses yet or switch all my chickensto bowls this winter. I still need to buy a heater for my rabbit barn. If we all beg and plead will Nevada skip winter?

lacey, hope a job works out for you very soon!

Tyler, you can certainly try and see if it winter will get skipped! I think this is just a preview though. We have some more time before the real winter is here. That being said, we had snow on the ground this a.m. anyone else?

well, my little chick is still having the leg problems. the shoes fell off. I only had first aid tape, not athletic tape as recommended. I will need to get some of that and try again. I think they would help if on for longer. I lifted up her body and held her over by the water last night and she drank quite a bit. so I will keep doing that to make sure she gets her water. she gets the food fine laying down. i also have been giving her the poly vi sol. After i had been holding her up with her legs on the ground, she did walk around a bit more.

have a good day, everyone! hopefully the weather will really be nicer as it's forecast for the weekend.

I know - Reno is suppose to have a very harsh winter too and I don't like it. It's suppose to be short though so let's just hope for that?

Sunny, I called today to see how it was going, and she said "Thanks for following up" and said that she wasnt authorized to hire anyone until the end of oct. or early nov. Im really happy, even though its a while off. Now I know whats up, and she seemed pleased I cared enough to call.

Ug, I hate cold weather. Its almost time for 6 blankets and 2 sweatshirts.

Elizabeth, I read an article in a magizine (Backyard Poultry) about someone who had something wrong with thier chicken's joints. They held her off the ground in a sling and tied small wieghts to her feet so everything stretched out, and after a bit of this the hen was walking fine agian. I'll try to see if I can find the article. Might not help, but it'll give you somthing else to ponder.

Ive got a little japanese chick I think is dying. Shes not eating, Im not sure why. She's really skinny too, when you feel her, but looks fine if youre just looking. I felt up all the others and they seem fine. Does anyone know whats up? She's also acting really cold.

Okay, did a little research. I couldnt find the article in thier archives, but even if I did we probably could read it. Is this the Poultry Podiatry site you were looking at already? https://sites.google.com/a/poultrypedia.com/poultrypedia/poultry-podiatry If so, look at the Slipped Achilles Tendon section and see if the sympotoms match up. In the picture you have with her standing up, she not standing all the way up. With this problem, it says they cant stand straight. So maybe?? If the problem is in both her legs then you'll have to use another chick to see if they look 'flat or swollen' or whatever.
Then theres this: Same info but with more pictures

I think this is where I got that suspending and wieghing down the foot thing that popped into my head. Any, lemme know if any of this makes sense.

K, I know this is like my third post in a row, but im bored. And I wanted to know if anyone wanted a snake? They make horrible pets anyway. But Im getting rid of mine on craigslist if anyone is curious, in the pets section for lack of a better option. Tyler, dont look youre too young for such language. Probably. I wasnt the happiest camper while writing the add. If anyone here is like a secret snake fan, you'll get dibs.

thanks for looking that up for me, lacey! I really appreciate it. that first site is the one I was looking at. She can straighten her legs out while lying down so I'm not sure if that fits what they say about slipped achilles tendon. she lays like that a lot. But you're right, when she's standing, she's not standing all the way up like the other chicks do. I will have to compare her to the other chicks to see if her hocks look swollen. This is quite a lot for a brand new chicken owner! I don't know what I'm doing! Pasty butt I could handle, but this is quite a bit more complicated. I have to do more reading on this site and see what I can figure out.

Sounds like you might have some good news on the job front soon. that was great you called and checked. Now you can relax a little bit and not be too worried. Oh, and I am definitely not interested in a snake!
