Whoa, wait a minute... LEAH????

I would never bring in a 4'x8' sheet of plywood and make a mini coop with chicken wire in my living room from March until June in 2010 either?

I need to sell a couple of ducks. John and I think having 7 of them is just way too much. Mo is going into the coop at nights now and removing the chickens one by one. The poor chickens are in shock because they are in their sleepy mode and don't have a clue what's going on. Mo's doing this because of Harmony looking for a spot to lay her eggs once she starts laying. Ducks lay at night, chickens are in the coop at night and this duck don't want chickens in the coop when his lady is in there. sheeeesh! The last 2 nights I had to remove Mo and put him in jail until the morning. Also, Mel is getting really huge. He's filling out nicely but I don't dare have a third drake with only 4 hens. Can't happen.

You mean 92" x 32" (inches) right? So that's not quite 3 feet wide by not quite 8 feet long?

The coop is the upstairs portion and their yard is downstairs? Is the yard the same size as the coop?
Yes I do mean that. The coop is the upstairs, the bottom is the same size. They free range, except when there is a snow storm, or something like that.

Missy and a friend of hers has 5 of my ducks. Missy has 2 of them. I'll be hatching next year. If anyone is interested. This is my first full year with ducks. The older ducks are molting right now. I'll see if they go back into lay afterwards. I was told they don't but they do look like they may.

Haha, today I heard the drakes quacking just outside the doggie door, and they normally don't spend time on the patio. After awhile I looked out to see what was going on. They both had Tater cornered, and were ganging up on her. I didn't catch it in time to see what was going on, but I think Tater was trying to go out in the yard, but the ducks were in the way, and the drakes were keeping Tater from their girls. That's my guess, anyway. I looked out in time to see them chase her around and nibble at her legs, then she got down and bared her teeth just enough to make them let her pass. But she didn't touch them. I'd know long before now if any of my dogs had a mean tendency toward the birds. I think that's why they were bullying her... she wasn't going to touch them, so she pretty much let them get away with it. I just wish I had seen the whole thing. Whenever Tater goes to the pond to get a drink, the drakes swim up to her and quack at her. Yesterday it looked like they were just taking interest in her, but now I think it's because they didn't want her in the pond by their girls. Even though Tater can't stand getting even a toenail wet!

Bro. Andrus has the other 3. You're welcome to come look at mine, if you want. I have blue swedish drakes, though, not harlequin drakes.
