New Brahma Group: Blue Partridge x Partridge, Plus Dark

:celebrate:wee:ya Are they Lights?

My Miranda, who was a hatchery gal, but just a great hen. She was originally with Suede, but there was something off with their chemistry so I never got a chick from her with him. They'd be fertilized, for certain, but after probably 100 eggs being incubated from them, not one chick.

They are! I'm very excited, haven't been this excited about hatching for awhile.

She is gorgeous. I probably have pictures of my two around somewhere on an old SD card, I might have to dig them up. For being hatchery stock, they sure were pretty. The rooster especially. There's just something about big brahma boys :love

Best of luck with your hatch! My hatchery Brahmas were the best hatchery birds I ever had, honestly. Miranda died of what I believe to be cancer at 5 1/2 yrs old. She had been laying up until three weeks prior to her passing. Caroline just passed at the end of Oct and would have been 10 yrs old in January, never had any laying issues, just issues with her nares and cysts in them. Salt of the earth, those two.

Well, my eggs did not come in today, despite arriving at the destination sort facility yesterday :barnie

But, I did find an old picture of Apple. He'd be about eight months old in this picture, I think:

@Pyxis, sorry about the eggs, surely they'll be there today.
Handsome guy you had. I had one until he was about 15 weeks old, a sexing mistake from Ideal. I sold him because he was not in the plans, but I think I should have kept him. He was so sweet and after having Bash, I missed an opportunity, I think.

Well, they came in. Like this.

And the inner box:

The package couldn't even sit flat on the ground, and the whole thing reeked of rotten eggs. So I wasn't really surprised to open it and find this:

Some eggs were crushed so badly that they were totally flat. I cannot believe the post office would deliver a package this way. Whole box was marked up as fragile, too.

Wow, that's the worse I have ever seen, I'm so sorry. Hopefully at least it was insured. I would be so heartbroken.

I'm very disappointed :( I can't believe they even delivered it like this. It stank SO badly I've had to put the box outside. It smelled up my whole downstairs in ten minutes.

Luckily these boxes come with $50 of insurance, so I will put in a claim. I'm first seeing if the seller will send more eggs though, in which case I will let them put in the claim to be reimbursed.

I ship eggs in styrofoam coolers, not the cheap flimsy ones that you buy in the store though. Check at your local veterinary clinic, they get many medications in coolers with ice packs, and the coolers are excellent shipping containers. I still wrap the eggs in bubble wrap but at least the container does not get crushed.

That's awful. What a mess!

Got a message from the lady who bought a Brahma trio from me recently. She also wants the Barred Rock pair I have up for sale, but she sent me this picture of the ones she got from me quite awhile back.
