New Brahma Group: Blue Partridge x Partridge, Plus Dark

@speckledhen Beautiful chicks! I love the video and your bat! Those little dinosaurs are seriously wild. How long does it take the babies to work out the pecking order?

Thanks! If I recall, they usually work out the worst of that fussing in a couple of weeks, though they periodically continue to spar with each other as they reach the "teens". Later on, it's more good-natured play, almost. This is in earnest, as you can tell! What is really bad right now is that they are inside because of the wind yesterday and today, it's back to raining again. Hopefully, they'll be able to get outside later today and have more space to get away from each other. I wish their mom would go ahead and decide to quit being a mom-she's dangerously thin, IMO.

Finally, they were able to go outside. The chick that we think is a pullet was being picked on and wanted a rescue. Her left shoulder is positively green with bruising from the pummeling she took yesterday.

I hope it's a girl. If not, I have two partridge and two blue partridge cockerels to sell. And six Brahma chicks coming up right after that.

Please, no more broodies, no more broodies, no more broodies, etc, etc.

I'm beginning to worry that my possible blue partridge pullet is not so girly. It seems girly in attitude, but I see more solid looking hackles and chest feathers than patterned, though the shoulder feathers are taking a loooong time to come in. Hey, @Sjisty , what do you think? I'm thinking I have four cockerels now, good grief! That means four males to sell.

Three of the same chick (they just had scrambled eggs so their crops are full).

And the one I'm 100% sure is male from the orange shoulder feathers.

I just had another go broody :barnie One of my ayam cemani hens. And to make matters worse, she stole eggs that were already sold. Can't sell them after that. Sigh. Well, I'll let her hatch them. They're always great mothers, at least.
