1-3 day old chick from hatchery, has not been put with my broody hen yet... waiting until early morning around 5 am. Been accepted 3 today, putting last 4 in with her tomorrow morning. 4 are in a box with a heat lamp. Chick is acting normal, eating, drinking, sleeping normal. Only noticed when I saw her stretch her legs that she has this issue. Earlier today my broody pecked one of the speckled birds, probably this one. What should I put on it and is it okay to try and put her in with the broody while it's dark. I'm hoping she don't notice this as it's not really visible.

Personally, I would try putting the chick with the hen (as you originally planned), and not put anything on the injury. Minor injuries tend to heal just fine with no treatment.

Thank you. I was able to get my hen to accept all 4 of the remaining chick's by taking the eggs and putting the 4 remaining chicks under her about 1.5 hours before sunrise. She accepted all 7 chick's!!

I'm glad it worked out so well!
