My winter project was to build my girls a new coop. Originally I would just going to build a addition to the coop I inherited when I got the girls last summer. After building the addition and then looking at what it was going to take to attach it to the existing which after digging more into I found was very poorly constructed I decided to build 2 more pieces to the original addition and just replace the current coop. This is how it turned out. It is a total of 6 pieces (3 bases, 3 tops), built it this way to make it easier to move into place. So finally yesterday with the help of some friends we got it all moved out of the garage and pre-assembled on the driveway so I can get all of the carriage bolt connector holes drilled and remaining trim piece cut prior to moving it around back and putting it into place. So here it is.

Plastic roofing! Wise choice. As someone who also had to build in the garage and move into place, I like "modular" coop builds. Those pieces still look pretty heavy. Four folks to lift each module?
Yes it takes 4 people to move each piece. We ended up building lifting bars out of left over 2x4 which run under the eaves and allows the person to be 2 feet away to lift, it provides so much more control over moving it. The roofing is actually Corrugated Asphalt Roofing by Ondura super easy to work with and looks great.

Nice looking assembly!
Pics of inside?
Nice roof overhangs ( my Fav!! <3 )...are those eaves open for ventilation?
I will get some inside pics later today and post. The eaves have about a 1/8" opening for ventilation but I have also installed many 3" vents in the sides and peaks along with a 8x14 vent in each peak. In addition all 3 windows open, and in installed them backwards so they could be opened from the outside, for security I framed the inside of each window with hardware cloth as well. I will post some more pictures of the inside and what I used for vents this evening or tomorrow morning.

As promised here are inside pics along with the windows open and some close ups of the ventilation. The scrap angles on the corners will come off when it is moved to its final destination, we are using those just to add stability while we move it.

Finally got a group of guys over this past weekend and got the coop moved from the driveway and set into place in its new home. Still have to finish spot painting some trim but waiting for the temperature and humidity to drop a bit. Amazing enough one of the girls hopped up into it while we were still assembling and laid the first egg in it.
