Just got it finished today. 8x10. Good thing because 16 chicks will be here next week!
To do:
Paint exterior. I've got the Barn & Fence paint from Lowes
Build nest boxes (probably going to do the buckets)
Build roost area
Cut out exit/entry for the chickens
Build run
Put something over the floor. This is what I'm most concerned about. Still not sure what to use. I'll probably paint it just to seal it. As well as the rest of the inside. And maybe vinyl.

Does it ever end!?

More ventilation is a must. For the floor, I used Blackjack 57 in my coop, it is made for roof repair. It's thick, make sure you stir it good, and just roll it on. Good luck with your new chicks!

I used a good heavy duty foam backed vinyl, the only one one that didn't crack when I bent a corner, bigger than floor cut out corners and bent it up the walls, only need to tack it at top where it went up the walls far enough to flop. Used same materiel to line poop boards. Still good 4 years later.

It's a nice size, but needs MUCH MORE ventilation! Big openings in the doors, and big windows on the south and east sides, and vents in the upper walls. All covered in well secured hardware cloth! Also, consider two layers of siding, unless you will have electric fencing around it all the time. Mary

Think about vinyl with a 1/4 piece of particle board on top that you can pull out.

We did the rubbery sealant paint stuff for our floor and it is doin pretty good so far. We just painted it over the ply and a foot up on the walls. You may want to rethink that paint.... we got the same stuff at lowes and it was just a pita cause it is so stinkin thin. ;(. Had do three coats to get ours done good. Coop looks great! Are you plannin on doin anymore ventilation in it?

Make sure you get it anchored down...in case of high winds. Speaking from experience. Fortunate my girls were not in it when it went rolling across the yard!

Depending on what breed you get, size does matter. I tried the buckets for nests but my girls grew too big to fit into them and they couldn't turn around. You might reconsider...

Jealous of your shed. If I could do it over again, I'd build or buy one similar to that.

@aart Nahh, I didn't build it. I bought it from Lowe's and they came out and assembled it. I did paint it though. Did that today. Still a lot of work left to do.

So your flooring, you didn't attach it to the coop floor at all? Only unrolled it, and tacked it up the walls?
