I am planning on getting some ducklings very SOON!
I've been told that "its too cold" lol...
But its because we are scared to use heat lamps because of all the fires around here.
Is there an alternative?

I kept my baby ducks in the brooder in the garage until about 3-4 months. They took showers with me....
I have Cayuga's and they actually lived through the Indiana winter and it was down right COLD. They make heat mats to keep them warm, too, like they make for dog kennels. Someone on here mentioned it.

Where can i find the heating pad things?

I have both a MHP using a regular heating pad and an electric hen (also called a heating plate). I brood right in the coop and they have worked great. I did find that the ducklings preferred to cuddle just outside the electric hen but they did just fine.
