DownwardDog. It really is a great skill to learn if you are going to raise chickens. Believe me if I can do it, you can do it. I never in my wildest dreams thought I could kill an animal before I started raising chickens especially since I had been a vegetarian for 11 years, but now it's something I am very proud of. I'd be happy to answer any questions,I know it's hard to get started PM me if you want. We processed about 100 birds last year and plan to do the same this year.

Angie! OMG, what a small world!!!! Please ignore most of my PM to you, I got you confused with someone I PM'd earlier about SS hens:) I lost my Dad recently and my brain is just going in a 1000 directions, still! All this chicken research isn't helping:) Anyway, where are you selling our meat, and do you raise chicks, too? Lt me know 'cuz I'm looking! (P.S. How are the dogs?)

Lenore.

Welcome to the crazy, addicting world of chickens!

I just PM'd you back. Your message didn't sound crazy LOL The dog's are excellent. Ella had to have her front leg amputated 2 years ago and is doing better than ever. Bodhi is going through Chemo for Lymphoma but he's responding very well and has been in remission for a year and a half. They are the greatest, the light of my life.

Anyone know if it's legal in NH to sell your backyard eggs to members in a CSA? I'm starting a flock for me and a farmer friend, and we were thinking of selling any extra summer eggs to her CSA members. Thanks!
What is the name of the CSA? I am looking for one to join. And I hope it is okay to sell eggs their, because it would be great to get fresh eggs and veggies on the same stop!

Yevisk. Too bad you just missed the huge farmers market in Rollinsford this weekend. They had over 19 farms there giving info on their CSA's. There are tons of them in the state, if you look onto the Local Harvest website or NH Eat Local they have lists I believe.

Hi everyone I am in Canterbury NH and I have a Rooster I am trying to find a good home for...he was born on Christmas 2012, we named him Noel. He is Silkie mix, and has been handled everyday since birth so he is sweet...gets along w my other animals. Hasn't been out side yet though. It is really hard to part with him but I have 2 other roosters and not enough females. He is free ...I just want to make sure he is not going to be killed

He is beautiful. I already have 10 roosters and can't deal with any more. If anyone is looking for a Blue Wheaten Ameracuna Rooster I have 6 1 year down to 4 months.
Oh my goodness how does 10 roosters get along? Right now we have 1 Roo in the coop to well was 3 hens but now 1 is inside with her 3 babies, and 1 just moved in the house because she needs to heal from him...so he is out in the coop w 1 hen and 4 ducks :( ....we have 6 babies in the house not including the 3 with mama. And out of those 9 babies 4 are roosters. Is that confusing or what? So in total we will have 5! to 8 hens...I see the damage 1 Roo does to them I hate to see 5
