Hello everyone,
I’m fairly new at keeping chickens. I have a lot of questions and I’m still learning. I bought 4 baby chicks around May of this year but only one survived (my LegHorn chicken Henrietta). Shes now about 7months old.

I had no idea chickens could lay eggs w/o a rooster. So, just before she started laying eggs, I decided to buy 3 more baby chicks, thinking she needed a male to start laying lol. Now the younger chicks are about 3 months old.

Looking forward to meeting some of you and learning even more about chickens! :)

Hello:frow
Welcome to BYC!!
So glad to have you here!!
Thanks for sharing your story!!
There are many people on here that are ready to help in anyway they can!
The learning center also has alot of great information on it as well!
Enjoy!:wee

LOL! I always chuckle at that one. It's a common misconception. I like to remind people that ladies don't stop having their cycles when they're not around men. (Can you imagine if we did! Men would be forbidden in MY house...) :P Chickens are the same!

Welcome to BYC! I hope the info here helps you learn even more! I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few other misconceptions to be dispelled along the way! :D

:welcome:celebrate

Glad you're here Aba!

If you haven't yet, please make your chickens a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it! :D
