So true!! And it would be completely free too!!Great advice ! And true ! But what you would learn as a volenteer... Would be priceless !
OMG... Your right ! And to funny lol...Look at it this way - you aren't having to pay them for the very valuable experience you will gain just handling horses. Don't underestimate it; every horse is different, and you can gain skills you never realized you needed dealing with different temperaments.
(helping deal with the inevitable injuries and other stupid things horses do to themselves, as well)![]()
This is so awesome this thread picked up like this with so much great info. It sounds like you are moving in a GREAT direction,Being a volunteer there would be just fantastic.
I'll add one thing to your list of what to have the owner do: pick up all 4 feet. And hold them up and maybe smack on them a little. SO many horses are not real good about their feet, and it's really hard for someone who is new to do it. Yet they need their feet picked up every time you ride, you will need to check the feet are OK and no stones, the hooves need to be cleaned etc.
Really, really excited for you!![]()

true, cheapest part of owning a horse is buying it!OMG... Your right ! And to funny lol...
Agian... Just ask what lessons are... Getting the horse is the cheepest thing you will ever do !
THAT WOYLD HELP YOU BE THE BEST MOM TO YOUR NEW PARTNER YOU CAN BE ! Yes i am going to pass on buying the horse for now until i get more experience. then i will be able to build up a fund for unexpected vet bills, and i can finish up a few things too!As this post has evolved... Truly... Please... Take a few deep breaths...
I can tell you don't want to get your new fur kid and do something that could be harmful... That's said... If you can POSSIBLY... Talk your self in to passing at the moment on byeing a horse... Take that $ take lessons... Hang out at the barn... LEARN...THAT WOYLD HELP YOU BE THE BEST MOM TO YOUR NEW PARTNER YOU CAN BE !

Lol, don't say that too fast, a dark bay gelding looks AMAZING in purple!Once I do get my horse, I have already put together a cart on chicksaddelry.com, that is where i will be buying a lot of stuff. everything in my cart is pink and purple, cuz i was thinking that i was going to get a mare. But i will have to change the colors if i end up getting a gelding! XD
