In our constant efforts to stay on top of the ever-changing web and the ways people interact with dynamic website content, we've made some really cool updates to one of the most popular aspects to BYC: Image Viewing

    Thread Image Viewer

This functionality makes it super-convenient to browse through the images in a thread, especially useful for image mega-threads (like our 2013 Calendar Thread).

You can click on any photo that was embedded using the Image Embed tool to view a large version, and then flip through all other images (that were embedded using the image embed tool) in the thread. We believe this is a great way to find and explore images in a thread.

Here is how to use it:

    1. Go to a thread with a bunch of pics, like this one:
    2. Click on any image
    3. The new window that pops up will let you browse ALL the images in the ENTIRE THREAD (as long as they were embedded with our Image Embed tool).
    4. After clicking an image, look for the next / previous buttons at the top of the page and also "gallery view"
    5. The "view all posts with this image" and "view other posts by this member in this thread" are really helpful and fun too!
    6. You can also click the "original" link to see the full-size image if you want. This is especially helpful if someone uploaded a 5 mb image file and you want to see each and every feather! [IMG]
    7. You can also give ovations to images and comment on them!

Here's an example of what you should see when you click on an image (I've highlighted some of the key things to check out):

Here is an example of the cool new "Gallery View" and what you'll see if you click that link from within the new image viewer:

New Recent Images In This Thread Module:

You'll also notice a new module to the right of threads that have 3 or more images which will make it super simple to open up the Thread Image Viewer. For threads with 3 or more images, this side module will appear:

Please reply with any feedback, questions, or issues with these new changes. There are still a handful of changes and fixes we want to make to the new image viewer, but we often choose to get new features and tools into our members hands early so you can provide feedback and suggestions ASAP!

  6. could be cool. yup.
  7. This is extremely helpful for the breed threads (IE: Silkies thread, Welsummer thread, etc) as we can see all the pictures that have been posted, and can compare our chicks and chickens to that of other members. It also helps when we're trying to figure out what gender chick we have - can see all the other ones that came before, and the gender those are...and at least reach an educated guess. I [IMG] this feature, thank you for adding it!!

I like the option with 'view all posts in the thread by user' That's better than the image gallery itself! Great changes! :woot
