I just got my chicks 2 weeks ago, but here were other breeds I wanted that were't available. I am getting new chicks from a friend. Here's what I might get:
Black Silkie
Gold Laced Polish
White Polish
And maybe a Crevecouer or Barred Rock
My friend doesn't have BR's, but Jersey Chickens does sometimes.
I already have a buff orpington (LF), a salmon faverolles (LF), 4 bantam EE's. One of my EE's may be another breed, but I'm not sure. It was a bantam assortment, so I don't know what they are.

Shadow rabbit 10- the golden laced polish are pretttttty! You'll have a nice group when you are all done.

llandry- I'm zoned rural residential, so I just have to keep it within a reason, like not a commercial operation. I do live in a development, but all our properties are 1+ to 4 acres. I have a few neighbors with ponies (you would never know) and I'm not aware of any other chickens. I have 1.5 acres most of it woods. Sorry you can only have four, they are like potato chips. :)

they all sound so awesome! I wanted an EE but I reached my limit for what the town allows. How many chicks are you allowed to have?
Twelve total. I have no idea why such a weird number. There used to be no limit last year, but a certain chicken owner in town let their chickens poop in peoples' yards, so they limited it to 12. Only 1 can be a rooster. Also, free ranging became illegal thanks to this person. Your birds must be confined to a run. However, my town has no restrictions on any other types of poultry. Only livestock (except horses, but no one has room). So, technically, I could own 100 turkeys, but only 12 chickens.

I was messing around with pics of the new babies... one RIR, one BR, and 4 buff orpingtons. What do you guys think? did I get mostly girls this time? last time I was 2 girls out of 6 :(

The BR, above, is the only one I'm on the fence about, really .... may be a boy. And my 12-year old already named her Eyeore (she named the first one Piglet)...

Ok, right I do too know how to count! 3 pics, 6 chicks. I don't have picks of the other 3? really? It'll be first on my list when I get done work today. Sorry about that!

They are cute. When I got my chicks they were already four weeks old (didn't want the kids to squish them) so I never got the cute baby chicks phase. Everybody looks girly so far.

Mingming- Those pics are great! Very creative :) You're like Anne Geddes for chicks. Seeing them so little makes me wish I got my chicks earlier than 5 weeks.
Shadow Rabbit- Your chickens sound awesome! Since I'm new to the world of chickens, I don't know some of your breeds but they sound beautiful. I can't believe we live about 2 miles away from each other and there's such a difference in what we each can have. I'd love to come see them.
NJchix- I love your flock. It looks like I have similar ones to you and I can't wait for mine to grow up into big girls :) Mac looks awesome too. I work with dogs and cats and he's gorgeous.
