I'm a new chicken mom. I have 6 white leghorn pullets that are almost 3 weeks old. In learning about the different breeds, my 14yo special needs daughter decided that she would really like a Silkie, but I couldn't find any locally. I wasn't really looking to have a bunch, so ordering wasn't a feasible option. I wandered into Tractor Supply today, & they had a bin full of Silkies! But they have a 6 chick minimum purchase. I was telling my story to the sales guy & an older farmer was there buying chicks. He was so sweet that he bought me a Silkie for my daughter! So, I got to surprise her today with this little one. Meet Fleecy:
