Welcome to Backyard Chickens! We are glad you joined the flock!:welcome BYC is a helpful site providing all the information you need to know about poultry! There is always space for more members on the BYC roost!:highfive: Either you have an egg eater or the egg is possibly buried under the hay. A snake could of been susceptible but it's Autumn which is usually the time of hibernation for snakes. Hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do!
 
Welcome! Check for critters that may have gotten in, check if your girl ‘buried’ the egg in bedding. You can use wooden or ceramic eggs, golf balls work too. I always keep some in the nesting boxes and the girls will run in the coop to lay and then back out in the yard. Don’t have to search for eggs
